It is Holi today; my favourite festival for playing with the colours, having a great time with friends/parents and best part - dancing on dhol music…..and here I am slogging at work and looking at friends pictures of Holi celebrations with friends and family.
These are the moments which make you feel so lonely and contemplating what you are doing with your life and why are you away from those dear ones that you cared about so much and friends that you grew up with.
I remember when I was a kid, Holi preparations used to start one week early helping Mom prepare some Holi rituals’ based stuff and making plans with friends - how much and what type of colours, balloons etc to buy.
Holi day meant getting up really early and ensuring you have enough buckets ready, full of water mixed with darkest colours and balloons filled with colour mixed water. This is to throw water and balloons on neighbours, people walking past your building blocks. And then when all friends are ready, going down in the park and colouring everyone with the worst colour you can get your hands on.
All this to be followed by dancing like mad on dhol music for hours and not letting the dhol guys move from their place until your dancing appetite is satisfied….Oh man, I miss those days.
